Following the close of WWI and WWII of the last century, and after each subsequent flare-up of hostilities,
the proclaimed patriots and politicians of our republic again and again commit themselves to remember in
perpetuity those who had served and to often fallen in battle. Each time, all professing that only in
remembering and remaining ever vigilant can our country hope not to fall victim to complacency and allow
history to repeat itself in any form, such as occurred upon our nation December 7th, 1941 and again on
September 11th, 2001.
As human beings we seem to require a symbol to rally behind, unless a member of our close family was
personally affected either directly or indirectly. For example, the terrorist attack of 9/11, which
today virtually every citizen both student and adult is vividly aware, while literally hundreds of
other such symbols continue to dim with the passage of time.
The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Imperial Japanese Navy on December 7th, 1941 is such a day that
we must never forget. We survivors of Pearl Harbor, who have been the Sentinels of this vital cause,
are painfully aware that an ever-decreasing number seem to reflect upon and relive the horror of the
attack that occurred this day upon our nation.
We survivors must now deliver a call to arms.
Our torch must be passed to a select few Patriots throughout our great nation who will continue the
fight against complacency and never let the light of our symbol dim.
